What you'll own

  • Own outbound sourcing across accountants, brokers, trade bodies and Companies House signals
  • Build relationships with regional Chambers of Commerce, FSB chapters and IFAs
  • Lead first-call qualification with founders considering succession
  • Hit a target of 12 qualified opportunities into pipeline per month
  • Own the CRM, sourcing dashboards and weekly pipeline review

Must have

  • 5+ years in M&A, business brokerage, search-fund sourcing or SME lending
  • Demonstrable track record sourcing UK SME deals £500k–£10m
  • Empathy for founders — this is succession, not asset stripping
  • Right to work in the UK

Nice to have

  • Existing network of UK accountants and IFAs
  • Experience with proprietary deal sourcing tools (Sourcescrub, Grata, etc.)

Succession Analyst (Deal Diligence)

Run forensic financial and operational diligence on every business in the LegacyRelay pipeline so operators inherit reality, not a sales deck.

What you'll own

  • Build standardised Quality of Earnings models for every deal
  • Pull and reconcile Companies House filings, VAT returns and management accounts
  • Produce a 10-page diligence brief per business covering customer concentration, working capital, key-person risk and sustainable owner earnings
  • Flag deal-breakers early — protect both founders and operators

Must have

  • ACA / ACCA / CFA Level 2+, or 3+ years in transaction services / SME audit
  • Fluent in UK GAAP, FRS 102, dividend vs salary owner remuneration
  • Excel modelling that doesn't break when assumptions change

Nice to have

  • Experience in a Big 4 TAS or boutique M&A team
  • Familiarity with BADR (Business Asset Disposal Relief) tax mechanics

Outcomes we'll measure

  • Every deal at IC has a standardised, comparable diligence pack

Must have

  • Operating experience: you have run a £1m+ revenue P&L
  • Coaching credibility — you have managed managers
  • High EQ; this role lives in difficult conversations

  • Have completed an SME acquisition yourself
  • Background in EOS / Scaling Up / Rockefeller Habits operating systems

Run the 12-week Operator Course end-to-end — curriculum, faculty, cohort experience and sign-off — so graduates are deal-ready, not just educated.

What you'll own

  • Own the course P&L, calendar and three cohorts per year (24 seats each)
  • Recruit and manage the faculty bench (M&A lawyers, lenders, ex-founders)
  • Approve each applicant alongside the admin team; maintain the bar
  • Iterate the curriculum every cohort based on graduate outcomes

Must have

  • 5+ years running a high-stakes professional education product (e.g. accelerator, exec ed, leadership programme)
  • Strong project management — you ship a 12-week experience without dropping balls
  • Deep comfort with UK SME landscape: TUPE, BADR, Companies House, lender criteria

Nice to have

  • Built or scaled a programme like On Deck, Entrepreneur First, or a search-fund accelerator

  • 100% of graduates produce a credible 100-day plan signed off by faculty

Build the funding stack so every approved operator has access to senior debt, vendor finance and equity co-invest within 30 days of accepting a deal.

What you'll own

  • Maintain hot relationships with Allica, Shawbrook, ThinCats, BBB-backed funds and SME-focused PE
  • Negotiate framework terms so operators get pre-vetted indicative offers
  • Structure vendor loan notes and earn-outs alongside the legal team
  • Run our equity co-invest LP relationships

Must have

  • 8+ years in SME debt origination, sponsor coverage or search-fund equity
  • Existing book of UK lender relationships
  • Comfortable structuring £1m–£10m senior + mezz + vendor finance stacks

  • FCA-regulated experience

  • Own the standardised SPA, disclosure letter and warranty templates
  • Run TUPE process design across every deal
  • Manage the panel of external M&A counsel for complex matters
  • Compliance: AML/KYC on every founder and operator, GDPR, FCA boundary

Must have

  • Qualified UK solicitor with 6+ years post-qualification in private M&A
  • Hands-on with share purchases, asset purchases and TUPE
  • Pragmatic — closes deals, doesn't paper-cut them to death

  • Top-tier UK firm training (MC / SC / US firm London office)
